Board Development & Governance

Nonprofits are legally required to have a Board of Directors. Boards have three basic areas of responsibility: shaping the direction of the organization through strategic planning and policy development; ensuring that the leadership, resources, and finances are appropriate and adequate to fulfill mission; monitoring performance of the organization’s management, finances and programs and services. Only by understanding its role and having good governance policies in place can a board be strong and effective.

Focusing on building strong nonprofit boards, Cynthia works with Board and organization leadership to assess board effectiveness and advise them on board responsibilities and best governance practices.
